Sustainability Reporting for Organisations
The sustainability reporting landscape is evolving at a rapid pace and becoming an integral part of an organisation’s long-term planning and operations.
There is growing demand from regulators, stakeholders and investors for improved sustainability data. As well as organisations having their own net zero and sustainability aspirations. This underpins the need for businesses to take necessary steps to ensure they are not only compliant in their reporting but also can do so accurately, efficiently and effectively, by connecting that data to the wider strategic picture.
We are moving towards a future where financial data and sustainability information are inevitably linked, and this correlation is becoming increasingly necessary for fit for purpose decision making through sustainability reporting.

The Role of Energy Audits and Surveys in Supporting ESOS Reporting and Building an Effective Net Zero Strategy
For organisations across a wide range of industries understanding, managing, and reducing their business carbon emissions is becoming increasingly important. With stakeholders, consumers, and employees looking to work with a sustainable business, reducing the impact your organisation has on the planet is becoming vital to achieve commercial success.
In addition to this expectation, there are numerous Government schemes to encourage businesses in managing their energy efficiency and carbon emissions. Large UK organisations are required to comply with the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) in which they must detail the total energy use of their business, identify areas of significant energy consumption, and find energy efficient solutions to reduce their consumption.
In this blog, TEAM’s Energy Consultant and ESOS Lead Assessor, Tom McLeish, will explore the role energy audits can play in supporting businesses in complying with ESOS and in creating their net zero strategy.
Improve your business efficiency with a TM44 Air Conditioning inspection
If you have an air conditioning system with a cooling capacity of 12kW or more in your building, you are legally required to have a valid air conditioning inspection report and a certificate in place. These are required every 5 years.
Many organisations do not realise that a TM44 inspection acts as more than just a certification, unlocking vital energy efficiencies, cost savings and supporting your environment responsibility.
Find out why a TM44 Air Conditioning Inspection is more than just a certification with TEAM’s TM44 Guide.

Energy Wholesale Market Review
At the beginning of August, we experienced rising temperatures and low wind outturn, forcing gas to rise 10.8% to 83.35p/th. However, the end of the month brought Storm Lillian and strong wind generation, with many gas and power contracts registering losses. Day-ahead power fell 18.4% to £57.42/MWh, finding bearish influence from high levels of interconnector flows from mainland Europe, alongside strong domestic nuclear production, and high wind generation.

Government sets record budget for green energy auction
The Government is set to significantly raise the budget for this year’s renewable energy auction, following calls from industry for more support.
Energy Secretary Ed Miliband announced that the budget would be increased to £1.5bn, up by £500m from last year.
The majority of the funding will be available to develop offshore wind power, which the Labour government says it wants to quadruple by 2030. The extra money has been broadly welcomed by the renewables industry, but there are warnings that without other changes, any new projects may not be delivered in time.
Electricity market reform: Octopus Energy CEO issues renewed call for shift to locational pricing
Setting electricity prices at local rather than national level could help cut energy bills across the UK, Greg Jackson says.
The new government should overhaul the current electricity market and shift towards locational pricing if it is to unlock the full benefits of a decarbonised power system, according to Octopus Energy CEO Greg Jackson.
‘Green momentum is building’: Poll points to UK rise in net zero construction projects
New research from NBS indicates around seven in ten construction projects now have sustainability targets
Greener building projects appear to be on the rise in the UK, according to a survey of construction industry professionals in which six in ten claimed to have worked on a net zero development in the past year, marking a slight increase the 2022 survey responses.
The survey also suggests around70% construction projects now have sustainability targets, with 40% reaching these green goals, both marking an increase compared to the previous survey.
World breaks hottest day record twice in a week

Survey: Two thirds of consumers want to buy products that have a positive environmental impact
In a survey commissioned by Amazon, it was found that two thirds of consumers want to buy products that have a positive environmental impact. However, only 7% said they always understand a product’s environmental impact when they shop.
State of the climate: 2024 now very likely to be warmest year on record
As 2024 passes its midpoint, the global climate continues to push into uncharted territory.
Carbon Brief’s recent analysis indicates a 95% probability that this year will surpass 2023 as the warmest year on record in the Copernicus/ECMWF ERA5 dataset.
This projection emerges amid a series of climate extremes that have marked the first half of 2024. The data has found that the first six months of 2024 have each set new temperature records, extending an already remarkable streak of 13 consecutive record-breaking months dating back to 2023.
Earth Overshoot Day – 1 August 2024
The 1 August 2024 marked Earth Overshoot Day, where humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services have exceeded what the Earth can regenerate in a year. Each year the data is analysed with a new date being announced annually. Although Earth Overshoot Day has held steady for a decade, it remains early in the year, occurring just after 7 months of the year have passed.
