TEAM Energy commits to Net-Zero by 2030 with SBTi-approved target
TEAM Energy is proud to announce that their science-based net-zero target has been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Navigating the Energy Labyrinth by Centrica

Centrica published its “Navigating the Energy Labyrinth” report which found that 31% of UK and Irish businesses say they will not achieve their 2030 emissions targets, with 46% of businesses citing cost as the main barrier to decarbonisation. Centrica also found that 46% of businesses identify energy security and resilience as a substantial risk to their organisation.
However, the report found that organisations remain committed to driving down emissions over the next year, with 81% stating that they will install onsite energy generation.
In addition, 83% of businesses claim that they will partner with third-party providers to enhance their energy operations and meet net zero targets.
Coastlines in danger even if climate target met, scientists warn
The world could see hugely damaging sea-level rise of several meters or more over the coming centuries even if the target of limiting global warming to 1.5C is met, scientists have warned. Despite over 2000 countries committing to keep the planet’s warming to 1.5C, scientists stress that every fraction of a degree of warming that can be avoided would still greatly limit the risks.
Sunderland EV battery gigafactory secures £1bn in funding
UK Government published a press release announcing that £1bn has been secured for a new gigafactory in Sunderland. It notes that the new AESC gigafactory will manufacture batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), expected to power up to 100,000 EVs a year – a six-fold increase on the country’s current capacity.
It states that financial guarantees from the National Wealth Fund and UK Export Finance have helped to secure £680m financing from banks to cover the construction and operation of the factory, while the remaining £320m has been secured through private financing.
Survey: UK Gen Z more confident in their green skills than global peers
Two-thirds of the UK’s Gen Z residents believe they have the right green skills to be successful in the workforce, compared to a global average of 44% according to Capgemini and UNICEF.
In addition, almost three-quarters (72%) of the survey respondents from urban and suburban areas said they are concerned about how climate change will impact their future prospects. The proportion stands at 58% for respondents from rural areas.
