WME 2023/24 Energy Prices Amongst the Lowest in the Public Sector: A Testament to Consistency and Value
In an impressive display of consistency and value, West Mercia Energy (WME) has once again been recognised for its competitive energy prices across the public sector. Independent analysis of public sector energy costs for 2023/24 has highlighted that WME’s public sector customers are ranked in the top 25% for the lowest energy prices, a remarkable achievement for the third consecutive year.
Top Quartile Performance
The annual report, published in July by Box CIC, evaluated over £4.3 billion in energy expenditures from more than 400 public sector organisations. The data, sourced via Freedom of Information requests, revealed that WME’s customers within their core flexible purchasing basket continue to enjoy some of the most competitive rates available. This consistent performance highlights WME’s dedication to delivering long-term risk management, and value for money.
Outstanding Savings
WME’s internal analysis further supports Box CIC’s findings. It shows that all WME customers within the core flexible purchasing basket rank within the top 25% for the lowest energy rates. When considering the average prices paid across all Local Authorities in the report, WME’s core basket also ranks excellently. A review of combined gas and electricity prices for 2023/24 reveal that WME’s customers are paying approximately 12% less than the average.
Taking a broader view over the past three years, from 2021/22 to 2023/24, WME’s customers have enjoyed costs that are 24% lower than average. This translates to a substantial saving of over £68 million over the three years.
