How electricity networks could be your missed net zero opportunity

SSE Sector Director for Electricity and Gas points out an energy and cost saving opportunity that organisations could be overlooking.
COP26 has thrown a spotlight on the ever-growing demand for sustainability. In response to this call for action, businesses and public sector organisations have been engaging in climate debates and making real efforts to improve their green credentials.
In a recent article by SSE Energy Solutions, Sector Director for Electricity and Gas Michael Robertson points out an energy saving opportunity that organisations could be overlooking.
Michael explains that many of SSE’s customers think it’s a burden to own private electricity networks. However, the energy provider believes this attitude is misplaced. When managed effectively, electricity networks can lead to substantial energy and cost savings. And with the right technology and solutions, a private network can also shield organisations from the volatility of wholesale gas prices.
SSE Energy Solutions can develop, build and manage private electricity networks across all sectors. They’ll also take responsibility for the long-term network resilience which will enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.

SSE accredited with Fair Tax Mark for eight year running
As the first FTSE100 company to achieve Fair Tax Mark accreditation back in 2014, SSE has championed the need for a culture of openness and transparency, and they pride themselves in paying their fair share of tax. It remains the only FTSE100 business to be accredited eight years in a row.
The tax affairs of large companies can be complicated. But SSE believes that the way companies disclose how much they’ve paid doesn’t need to be. Their overriding objective has always been to disclose the most important aspects of the tax contributions they make in the places they operate.
SSE fully supports the aims and objectives of the Fair Tax Mark. They abide by the tax rules to the letter, as well as the spirit of them too. They are determined to always operate transparently and encourage other organisations to achieve the stringent Fair Tax Mark accreditation standards.
